Me and my power conditioning research are moving along and wondered if anyone had compared the various isolation transformers available.

Sadly new Tripp Lite seem to be the best value. They also make a line conditioner that sound awfully similar, though less pretty, to the ExactPower EP15 or Monster AVS2000 for under $300

Thoughts?

I paid about $25 + shipping for my ONEAC and it's been serving me quite well, apparently they are quite moddable as well.

I cannot comment on Powervar vs Oneac, but i got mine off of ebay at a real steal, though prices have been driven up since.

I do own both brands, but haven't, and most likely won't, be able to compare them for a long while.

either is a fine choice for basic conditioning needs IMO. and like elnero said, users here have had their ONEACS modded

i got a low level ONEAC and it didn't do anything for my system, so now i use a Monster Power PC1000 and it works great.

The PC1000 keeps getting good press, yet the HTS-2500 I had was just ok. It neither helped nor hurt my speaker rig.

I had also considered the Monster AVS2000 but at $900USD on AudioGon its not the cheapest solution though it is one of the best.

Just wish these isolation transformers were less industrial looking

Well its all mute now, pulled the trigger on a Monster AVS2000

Was cruising eBay for an isolation tranformer and found one with no bids for... $580 and won. Sadly there were others at much higher bid but I guess the bidders were all tied up and didn't want to be stuck with 2

First I got a HeadAmp Reference for $550 and now this, life is good

Well I hope it's not mute that would make it pretty hard to listen, maybe if it's moot it would be better.

I would say you did very good on the AVS2000 for the money. Not sure what you were trying to do but I guess you were looking for an isolation transformer to get rid of some line noise. The higher $ Monster stuff had some very good design work done on them by some very talented and experienced power quality equipment designers and engineers. Having said that I like passive filtering devices better and have never really used purpose built isolation transformer in my work or audio systems. Just in passing, most all transformers are isolating by nature. Purpose built ones have electrostaic shields between the windings. We used to see Oneac specd by the telephony eqpt. vendors. They were nothing special. A whole lot of stuff out there is nothing more than a power strip with a cap, a coil and an MOV. Let us know how the Monster AVS works out for you.
