On a mission to like jazz

I have heard BrandX and liked them very much!  We listened to that and other great stuff on an incredible dorm system @ RIT (SAE amp, DB systems pre, and LS3/5A clones).  Those were the days (late 70s).  Interesting also the mention of Zappa.  I though overnight sensation was very much fusion.

I own a few Brand X records, good stuff! There can be no doubt that Zappa was a Fusion pioneer. For me, the Zappa 'Fusion' trifecta will always be Hot Rats, Wakajawaka, & The Grand Wazoo!

If you look at the names of his albums and songs, you won't wonder why he named his kids as he did. I wonder how Dweezil survived high school. Nowadays the family fights like cats and dogs over the Zappa name, very sad.

the standards albums are great! These were the first Jarrett albums I got into (late arrival ton the 70s quartets and the solo stuff).

I may have bought Koln first, but I love Standards 1 and 2.

Just picked up Last Dance - Jarrett and Haden on Hi-Rez last week.  Very nice.  And by the way, the 96/24 download of the Koln Concert struck me as a definite improvement over my old CD.

I'll check out the 24/96 Koln download out one of these days (still have much of this stuff, including many of the Standards albums, on vinyl).
