Can't stop listening to this.

Check this out when Hinky Dinky Time ends (WFMU.org Give The Drummer Some stream, my favorite radio at present)
Love Mehldau, have to catch him live one of these days...

This one covers a big chunk of Trane (have the vinyl box and the CD box sets...talk about OCD :D )...saves some time!

Today, local jazz station KCSM played "Daily Valley" from Steve Khan's 1978 album The Blue Man. Steve Khan is a jazz fusion guitarist who is new to me. Given the large number of albums to his credit, looks I'll be busy listening for some time.

The Tri-Centric Foundation and Firehouse 12 Records will release three box sets by composer Anthony Braxton on April 1. According to a press release, they range “from a wild reinvention of post-Wagnerian opera—Trillium J (The Non-Unconfessionables)—to a heartfelt tribute to an improvisatory hero—Quintet (Tristano) 2014—to a multi-dimensional, fully immersive electro-acoustic sound environment—3 Compositions (EEMHM) 2011.” Each of the three projects, the release continues, “offers a different component of Braxton’s constantly evolving vision, and each challenges the listener (or friendly experiencer, in Braxton terminology) to experience music as an active participant rather than a passive spectator.”

Thanks for the heads up. The Tristano set looks interesting since this would not be the first time that Braxton has tackled Tristano's music:

Tiristano would seem to be a good fit for Braxton.

Any Anthony Braxton recommendations? He's a big hole in my jazz knowledge/appreciation.

He's recorded so much that it's very difficult to choose. I would start with The Charlie Parker Project, a 2CD set at Hat Hart, Conference of the birds under the leadership of Dave Holland, with Sam Rivers; and a solo album Donna Lee.
