What are your views on Thelonious Monk?
The most singular jazz artist. You can hear just a few notes and know its him immediately.

Try 'My Funny Valentine' and 'Four & More' by Miles, Hancock, George Coleman and Tony Williams..it's a live recording in NY, 1964 I believe, it's two albums of the same gig, the latter less mellow then the first.. Best live Jazz ever IMO..good luck  (great sq as well)
I know it's tough to find the time, but anyone who read through this entire thread would find enough great jazz recommendations to keep them happy for a very long time!
Hey Jazzi!
That's actually a very fair comment and I'll do just that this weekend I'll report back once I'm done. Thanks!
Brilliant thanks. I have the highlights CD from the same concerts which is great but I haven't heard this yet. My favorite track from the CD I have is You don't know what love is/Meuzzin the second half of which has the same droneing, middle eastern sound as this.
I always find myself returning to this album come summertime.
