OMG... my ears are in love!

I had a similar portable setup not too long ago...

4th generation iPod » Go-Vibe MKII » UE Super.fi 5 Pro

I was pretty happy. The amp doesn't make a drastic change because the phones are already very efficient straight from the iPod. But going from the line out made the sound slightly clearer and the amp controls the bass a little better.

Make sure you have one of these to connect your iPod to the Go-Vibe.

My advise, buy those $900 headphones and be done with it! Anything less will leave you craving for more. Once you get to that level of 'this sounds so damn good only different sound signatures could possibly justify a new purchase if I hit the lottery', then you've won. If you still crave something new then your sick and need help. Sadly, many people here are very sick.

I bring this up here because I wasted $250 on a pair of super.fi 5pros then another $200 on a pair of e4c's before I had enough and just bought the UE10pros. I'm happy to say I bought my UE10pros cold turkey and have been crave free now for 3 months!

So enjoy your new headphones now because happyness is fleeting. Mark my words, you'll be wanting a pair of UM2's in a few months...

Edit:
I didn't mean for this post to sound like a UE10 commercial. Any of the other high end IEM's/headphones would suffice too.

I couldn't agree with you more along with all the other people that responded to your post. I only really got into this about half a year ago and I've already gotten the HD650 with Cardas cable upgrade, DT770 (woodied from headphile), the super.fi 5 pro, and the ety er-4p with s converter. So much guilt over buying but I obviously don't feel enough guilt to stop. In fact I'm thinking about getting the W5000s now so Bigtrouble has really nailed the progression down perfectly but I actually don't mind making the progression because the journey is 90 percent of the fun.

I was already thinking about this the other day but I think it is pertinent to this thread...if you knew you were going to spend 15K to 20K on headphones and various other equipment over the years and you could either buy the Sennheiser Orpheus (which for this little fantasy scenario we will pretend are universally acknowledged as the greatest headphone amp combo of all time...I wouldn't know since I've never been near a pair) or would you rather have a bunch of really great headphones and amps from all kinds of different manufacturers that offered all kinds of different sounds?

I personally like the second choice but that's just me.

This is certainly true but there are definite differences and some headphones are just so damn gorgeous that you just can't help yourself! I currently don't own anything from audio technica but I was looking at the A900ltd and the W5000s and they just look so damn good that I'm not even sure if I care how different they sound from my current gear. Probably makes me less than a true audiophile because looks do matter to me but I can't help it.
