all right computer geniuses, here's one for you.

i use windows 2000,

anyways i've watched movies on my comp before...
today i download a couple live fear factory videos and a mnemic video..
when i open any of the videos they play without errors and i can hear the sound.. i have all the codecs...

here's the funny thing... if a video is playing and i minimize the player and then maximize it i can see one frame of the video flash and then it goes black again.... it's a differant frame everytime i minimize/maximize so i know things are working...

the same thing happens with the divx player... i see one frame on maximize..

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Thanks,
Shane

Sounds like a video driver problem to me... What video card do you have (and driver versions)?

[Can also try VLC or MPUI that have built-in codecs, to rule that out if you want]

i'm not sure, where would i find that info? in the device manager?
the only things i can find in there that look like video devices are....

Dont know about 2000 but in XP display adapters in device manager or display in control panel should tell you. NVIDIA has universal drivers anyway so if you know that it is NVIDIA you don't need the model.

Well it looks like you have Intel integrated video.

From the Intel site, it doesn't look like they have any new drivers for it on Win2k since 2002... Interesting.

Well I suppose you can give MPUI and VLC a try to see if one of your codecs are conflicting.

No problem. Codecs are always causing trouble.

Do you mean you have all codecs? You really should only install the ones that you need, the codec packs only lead to trouble.

If you have further problems, try reinstalling DirectX (works for me).
