A question. Can you create your own customized playlists, smart or otherwise? The "smart playlists" mentioned in the review were implied to have been pre-defined by Olympus.

looks sexy but im not too hot on the idea of only being able to see the screen with the backlight on. thats how i usually navigate through my micro.

Doesn't sound like you want to elaborate on SQ as per your review response but if you had to summarize the quality, would it relate to any other player? Is it bass strong; does it distort with the EQ settings like the IPOD. Is the sound crisp or does it sound muddy?

Just curious as I love the design, but if the sound quality isn't up to par (setting aside the low volume strength), I'll just throw it into the category as an also ran player!

Somehow it makes me think of the Red Led games (like th football one) back in the 80s.

austonia, do you think the sound quality is sufficient for unamped headphones such as the Shure E2c's?

If so I might have to order soon

I've been considering this or a zen micro for a while now. I almost bought a mrobe when I was in japan, but didn't because they were effectively $280. I like the outlook and sleep/wake timers on the micro, as in theory I could use them to be more productive and remember things. That being said, the mrobe really is pretty cool and I think with a remote would be ideal. Any suggestions from someone who has spent more than 5 minutes with both? And I've searched and followed the threads and whatnot. Thanks

Does anyone else have experience with the mr100 yet? I will probably get one if i can find someone to solder a new headphone jack on my ipod

The battery is built-in, so you can't pop in an extra when the player is out of juice. Creative managed a removeable battery with the Zen Micro, it would be nice for others to follow thier lead...

You might want to fix that...
