Here is Olson's three laws of Headfi thread motion (with apologies to Newton):
1) Every thread in a state of uniform commentary motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it (usually from some other thread where some other competing product is being hyped).
2) The relationship between a threads mass (total posts), its acceleration (frequency of posts), and the applied hype H is H = ma. (That is; The vector sum of the hype forces H on a thread is equal to the total posts m in that thread multiplied by the frequency of posts a in the thread. The results are measured in Headhypes (or hypeposts per hour), so if there are 1000 posts and the average post per hour rate is 20, H = 50 Headhypes
3) For every hype, there is an equal and opposite anti-hype.
