So I was at a record and CD show this past weekend in Massachusetts. Wasn't much doing in the way of music, but I happened upon a table at which the seller had these 12 VHS tapes in black and red.

Lo and behold, they all said "Kolchak: The Night Stalker" on them! I was in heaven! I picked up all 12, supposedly the complete series, inclduing the original two movies.

Just watched the first movie, just as campy but clever as I remembered. Man, Darren McGavin nailed that part so well.

Any one of you not-so-young'uns remember this series? FUN stuff, indeed!

PS - whatever happened to that attempted remake of the series....I watched one, it was OK, then I lost track of it, never to see it around again.....

I used to love that series. It was cheesy and campy but Darren McGavin really made it work... I watched it again recently and I still enjoyed it!

The entire TV series (20 episodes) is available on a legitimate 3 disc DVD set, and the 2 movies on a single disc. I loved the movies and shows as a kid, and generally, they still hold up, cheesy effects aside.
