Just tell me where you got System Shock from. I want to buy a copy too.

You might as well see if System Shock 2 will play, although I had problems with a Voodoo3000 running it.

No. Abandonware is software (especially games) where the copyright owners have lost interest in defending their copyright, so "abandonware" websites post it up for free download without any kind of permission. It is essentially the same as warez from the legal perspective. System Shock 1 (floppy edition) was released for free by the makers of the game a while back as a promotion for System Shock 2 (and so is legal), but I think the CD version is still under copyright (but I don't think that the gaming industry will hunt you down over it). System Shock 2 is definately still under copyright and is illegal to download unless you already have a legit copy. Also the HOTU version of SS2 is missing several key cutscenes that explain a large part of the story.
