um, it depends on what you are looking for. They're one of the best values in the $100 price range, but if you're after bass and "full" sound, they're not it. They're also not it if you like a very aggressive "presence-y" sound.

If you want bass full sound but still love that Open Air, yeah spend the extra cash on the HD650s. Trance sounds very nice on these.

But considered one of the better cans for Jazz and Classical still. MMmmm

Activate live cashback, buy from Ebay and get an E5. Will just sneak under your $100 budget.

Personally just got mine in today - very happy

Depends on what kind of sound you're looking for. If you value forward brightness more than bassy fullness, go for the AD700. D1001 is more fun. JVC RX700 sound better and are more fun than both of them. And 1/3 of the price.

Get the E5 too. And a couple of albums off Amazon. And buy your friends a round of beers. And a good book. Then you're starting to push close to $100.
