my friend's triple.fis are busted all to hell...and his hd580s have gone way of the dodo bird...he's penniless and I'm wanting to get him a (cheap...c'mon) pair of open cans in the $50-60 range. I know, I know, I know that won't buy anything except a headache, but he needs something.

any help is really appreciated.

he's mainly, if this helps..I doubt at this price range it even matters, into very indie music.

What is wrong with the HD580s? Many things can be easily replaced on them for your budget.

I can't recommend anything for 50-60. You'd have to get to at least $90 for SR80s or AD700... Maybe PortaPros in the $40 range? They don't sound anywhere near as good though.
