So, I'm looking for some decent headphones. They need to be portable. I listen to a variety of music so I'm basically looking for a balanced set, not to heavy on the bass. My budget is $50 - $150. Preferably a closed can. Any suggestions?

You can take a look at Sony's MDR-7506 or MDR-V6. Really good headphones under $100. Sony MDR-7506 has a little less bass (to my ears), compared to MDR-V6, but V6 aren't a basshead headphones, it's just a good, tight bass. Both provide good sound isolation and at impedance of 62ohms they are not hard to drive. And both have the coiled cable.

+1 for the MDR-7506!

The only downside is it's not very uncomfortable fit. There is also the SRH-840 which I think it sound great for your need as well!

Hope it helps!
