Its very unfair for canadians to be unable to buy audio gears at US prices. For example the HD800 is 1800$ when its only 1400$ in the US.

It is even more unfair for us Quebeckers who get ripped off even more... No good stores who have moderate prices, all are expensive

Hey n-ster, If you live in or near montreal, there is a high end audio shop on the corner of Bishop and St. Catherine street near Concordia University. They have high priced stickers but they negotiate on almost everything if you ask down to good levels.

No, it is actually because most of the Japanese brand hi-fi companies want to put the screws to us price-wise because the Canadian federal government is renowned for laziness in enforcing fair pricing, with regard to the currency exchange rate between us and the US.

It has been like this for a number of years now, even in automobiles, books, you name it.

It is only when consumers scream good and loud that things change. Until then the international conglomerates just put the screws to you. In other words they are stealing from you while the federal government twiddles its thumbs.

For instance, right now the Canadian dollar is worth almost exactly what the US dollar is worth. But why aren't prices the same between the two countries with regard to imported items, or even items traded between the two under NAFTA?

Even on Amazon.com they won't even sell headphones to people with a Canadian address! Why is that???
