Is it me, or do the early works by the Beatles sound like total crap on CDs when listening through headphones?
I'll admit, I'm not a huge Beatles fan, but not too long ago I purchased 'Past Masters' on CD and, more recently, John Lennon's 'Lennon Legend'. Both are nearly un-listenable, to me, using my headphone rig. The music sounds flat, tinny, lifeless. It sounds better on my car radio. Apparently headphones are too revealing?
Anybody else feel this way, or care to educate me as to why this is? Were the early recordings that bad?
