It seems most of the stuff people mention here is all pretty well known. I've only seen a handful of bands mentioned here that I didn't immediately recognize. I was just wondering what songs you guys have heard that very few people have heard but still kick ass. I know, personally, I love the song Crown of Scars by Blyss (Lifehouse before their debut album), but good luck finding anyone who's heard that.

I really like when Amy Lee sang with Big Dismal. The song is called missing you. I also enjoy the summit worship album where she sang backup on 2 songs. guess it was back in 2000.

I always enjoy a song with a great hook. The one that you might hear on the radio / Interwebs and it grabs your attention, immediately. Here's quick sampling of mine, over the years. I don't know how well known there are (I guess it depends on your tastes):

Scanners - "Low Life" (Pop Rock)
Vega4 - "Traffic Jam" (Pop Rock)
Skin Games - "Your Luck's Changed" (Pop Rock)
Barleycorn - "A Song For Ireland" or "Cavan Girl" (Irish folk)
Mary Black - "Mo Ghile Mear" (Irish folk)
Dead Can Dance - "Fortune Presents Gifts Not According to the Book" (Dream pop)
Fairport Convention - "Matty Groves" (Folk rock)
Sebadoh - "Weird" or "Rebound" (Lo-fi)
The Consumers - "Concerned Citizen" (Punk)
Neko Case - "Star Witness" (Alt. Country)
The Bottle Rockets - "Radar Gun" or "Waitin' on a Train" (Alt. Country)
Sara Groves - "Fly" (Christian Contemporary)
Shankar Mahadevan - "Breathless" (Indian Pop)
Straightener - "Killer Tune" (J-Rock)
Translator - "Un-Alone" (New Wave)
Voivod - "Astronomy Domine" (Progressive metal)
Amanda Marshall - "Let it Rain" (Pop Rock / R&B)

"Journey of the Sorcerer" by The Eagles from the album, One of These Nights. This was used as the theme song for the BBC series, Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy. Terrific song.

I was listening to James Carr last night. Many amazing tracks but his rendition of Pouring Water on A Drowning Man is quite something.
