I currently own the Sonys best earbuds the MDR-EX700LP but it seems like that isn't the best from what other people in here say so I would like to know the name and model of the best earbuds in the world. I know I won't have money for it but I would like to know so I can research it.

Thanks

you mean earbud ? IEM ? universal, custom ? you like them warm, cold, bright, dark ?

its a matter of taste, i guess that the best top of the line would be a JH-13 Pro, $1200 price tag plus the ear molds and such

So Sony isn't really good at making headphones? I thought Sony was the best for making small things like headphones. I do know that make bright and lifelike displays on TVs but mostly I thought that Sony was the best for smaller things since they were the one who first made a portable player called walkman.

Earbud, try the Yuin PK3.

IEM, try the Westone 3/Westone UM3X/Shure SE530/UE triple.fi 10 Pro

Not nearly.. what ever gave you that idea? They made the well-regarded MDR-R10 (considered by many to be among the best-of-the-best full-size headphones ever created) as well as the Qualia 010 (also very well-regarded as among the best money could buy) in the full-size headphone sector, but their earbuds/IEMs haven't seen any nearly similar achievements.

Why are you so obsessed with the best earbuds? That's a weird question. Very few manufacturers go to make high-end earbuds (save perhaps Yuin) because all the serious listening is done in full-size of IEMs; earbuds are simply a realm of impracticality. If you meant IEMs.. I think the JH-13 pro have a 100% approval rating.

Also, customs, the JH13 Pro. And now we're talking high end, in the >$1000 range.

It's hard to go wrong with Yuin for earbuds. (available at Head Direct) They have a wide range of price points. There have been an extensive array of reviews on all of them on this forum so make use of the Search feature.

Sorry, Sony is a great company and all, but they don't care all that much about making high end audio hardware. They are much more content on mass selling entry and mid level products that are geared for the budget consumer or consumer looking for flashy products. They just don't try. This isn't to say that they can't make great products, but they just don't try. They just don't see enough profit in it.

The best-sounding earbuds that I've heard to date are the Yuin earbuds.
When using a headphone amplifier, I tend to prefer the Yuin PK1.
When listening straight from a player, I tend to prefer the Yuin PK2.

I happened to buy my small collection of Yuin earbuds from Head-Fi sponsor Hear-Direct while they were offering the PK[1,2,3] models on sale. They were shipped very quickly with great follow-up after the sale to be sure that I was loving them - which I was, and still am.

Well, the OP's Sonys are IEMs so I assume he is mistakenly calling them earbuds. The JH13 pro is indeed #1 in that case. For universals there are several that people seem to like best based on their own personal preferences - Sennheiser IE8, Shure SE530, UE TF10, Westone 3/UM3X, Etymotic ER-4P/S, ATH-CK100, even Head-Direct RE0. Sorry, the sonys aren't on the list.

Well my mom said Sony has been the best for making small electronics. I was born in Omaha, NE USA but my parents were born in Japan so they know about Japan alot. All my relatives were born in Japan I was the only one born in USA.

Ahh, brand image.. it's what makes my homies think their Sony BRAVIAs are better than Pioneer KUROs, and that their Sony VAIO Ps are clearly superior to all of the (much cheaper) netbooks on the market. Good times.

+1 for the netbook bit. Sony People are almost as bad as the Cult of Apple. I'll take my eee any day, thanks.
