Hi people's
I got a used hdp and though it sounds great the volume seems to be a bit lacking.
I have read reviews saying it has plenty of power to spare but I find I need to crank it to 1 o'clock to get anything decent (bout the same as 9on a fiio e9) do you think I have a faulty unit or need to change power supply or is this just how it is?

There's nothing wrong with it if you're getting decent loudness with volume at 1 o'clock. In fact that's where it should be for the typical listening volume. What headphones are you using with it?
Not sure where you heard that it has plenty of power - with output impedance of 10 ohm and 288 mW @ 30 ohm it's practically limited to  medium impedance easy to drive headphones. The FiiO E9 has similar impedance but with 900mW @ 32 ohm is much more powerful - no wonder it does go louder.
