Should i be going this combo? This is for my desktop system. What would you recommend in the $500 range? Bear in my i already have a Desktop Amp (EF-1) and an USB DAC (iBasso D3).

hear a lot of good things about the amp but would personally never buy a pair of speakers with out a listen first...IMO

the 6 Moons review of the S-1s seemed to indicate that they really need a sub, so its one more box you need to buy. The Audio Engine A5s have good reviews. You should definately look at them.
Also check out some of the M-Audio Powered speakers, like the M-Audio Studiophile BX5a.
