Now, EAC Test/Copy shows CRC coherence, AccurateRip tells me otherwise.

Previously I posted the opposite :

So I'm back in Malaysia, I find a few of my albums that I didn't rip so accurately back then. I've decided to rerip some of them, however they seem to be scratched, just a bit.

EAC Test/Copy CRC shows that the file is fine, however AccurateRip cannot verify accuracy of the rip.

What does this mean?

When in doubt due to the disc not being in the AccurateRip database, I always rip the same CD with a different program using the same drive, with the same program using a different drive, etc. If you don't have any other secure ripping programs installed and configured, then foobar2000 is probably the quickest and easiest to set up. After configuring the audio CD ripper (by entering your drive's read offset and choosing the most accurate/paranoid ripping settings), you can just rip the disc to WAV files and check the console afterwards to see if there were any errors. Finally, you can take the files from each of the rips and convert them to a single WAV file with foobar2000, and lastly compare the two WAV files with EAC. If they match, the rip should be accurate. If they don't, you should have a precise information about the location of the damaged area of the disc, which you should then repair.

Jaska, that's hardcore paranoia man.

This CD is obviously on AccurateRip's database. It's Radiohead's Hail to the Thief!

I would like to understand what's going on before dismissing the rip of those few tracks entirely as inaccurate.

That's how I do things. One of the drives in my PC is an NEC, and I can say with certainty that EAC lets a substantial percentage of "secure" rips through with this drive when indeed they prove to be inaccurate by further testing.

Do you have the copy controlled version?

Does it matter though?

Yes. Most CD readers can't accurately rip the disc properly, and if other users rip the disc and submit their results to the AR database, chances are that the intentional errors in the audio stream will be included in their output files (but in different ways depending on their CD readers), so verifying the integrity of the rip is a big challenge.

I think it's because there are not enough data points in the AccurateRip database for EAC to be confident that the rip was good on that basis alone. The confidence number in parentheses after "Accurately Ripped" represents the degree of confidence based on the number of data points in the Accurate Rip database.

I'll admit that it is weird that a mainstream album like HTTT doesn't have enough data points in AccurateRip, though. Do you have an import version or something?

Anyway, it is not telling you that you got a bad rip, just that it can't be sure you got a good rip based solely on the information in the AccurateRip database. However, the fact that your test & copy CRCs match should indicate that your rip was, in fact, fine.
