Novice Review: Denon AH-D2000

May 8, 2007 at 6:28 AM Post #16 of 44
I just talked to our operation manager in Japan and although there aren't any problems with the D2000, it seems that the D5000 is being produced at a very limited quantity by Denon. But we will be stocking both of them. Anyway, I don't want to hog this thread, I just wanted to clarify some issues since head-fiers' comments are good indicators of our service. Again, in a week or two we will be displaying the shipping time before you place your order, so there shouldn't be any misunderstanding. Thanks guys (and girls).

I ordered the same pair from audio cubes on 5/2/07.

They shipped today. no biggie for me. I emailed them and they emailed me back almost right away telling me it would be 3-4 days before they shipped, so i was happy to get a time frame and not just "pending".

Congrats! You'll have to give your impressions when you get them. I am VERY happy with these cans. I have about 24 hours on them and they just keep getting better! These may be the FOTM, but who cares...they sound great!

now I'm curious since you related them to the K701's. Amazing.

I have some comments in another thread that appears to be dying out in favor of the big D5000 thread, but as others have mentioned burn in really seems to help these things out--and they're good out of the box. Still, out of the box but found their somewhat polite presentation to carry the music with a bit less "energy" than I would like. I could be crazy, but as a bit of time passes it seems like the midrange, and the presentation, is coming forward nicely.

Anyway, thusfar overall liking of these headphones only seems to be increasing as time passes which is nice. Will be looking forward to seeing what they sound like after a couple hundred hours on them.

I'm thinking about ordering and I'm looking for as many impressions/reviews I can find before I decide (I can't hold back much longer

I received mine from Audio Cubes within 5 days last week.
They are improving steadily each day during burn-in.

What do you think of the D2000 now?

I absolutely LOVE them...no kidding. To me, they are as close to perfect as anything I've owned/listened to....Koss Portapro, KSC-35, MDR-V6, HD580, SR225, SR325i, K701, HD595. Granted, I haven't listened to any real high end phones yet so I don't know what I'm mising in that regard, but that's OK. After all, sometimes ignorance is bliss!

Well, I've listened to a bit more than you have, and the D2000 still takes it for me. The only cans less than $1k I still want to hear are AD2000, W5000, W11JPN, Skybeyers, and a couple of the older Stax I haven't heard.

The D2000's are sure getting a lot of praise.

I currently have a K701 and Darth Beyer V3, and i' really like something thats sounds like a combination of both. The impressions on these sound like they are it!

Well, let me say that I own Senn HD650, Beyer DT880, and of course the AH-D2000. I would have to say that the Denons get way more head-time than any of the others. I am pushing them through a tube amp, and it just blows me away every time I turn it on. I highly reccomend these cans. Others have concerns about the cord, but I have no problem with it at all. I also must report that the comfort of the Denons are just amazing. Buy them...You will thank us later!!!
