Are there any NOS DACs out there that can handle 176.4 or 192Khz input? Ideally DIY. I know about the Altmann Attraction DAC but it uses opamps I don't like.

Since the Altmann uses the TDA1543 DAC which a lot of other DIY designs use, it shouldn't be too hard to find another design that can do 176/192Khz right?

The upsampling will be done on the computer using SSRC or similar so the DAC itself doesn't need to do upsampling btw.

You can still have a NOS DAC running higher than 44.1Khz. This is my aim: do the oversampling on the PC in Ultra quality, (which takes up half of my 2.2Ghz CPU) and send the upsampled data to the NOS DAC.

This way you avoid the high frequency rolloff that all 44.1Khz NOS DACs have, and also get more accurate sine waves than 44.1Khz NOS.

.. but if you send 192 kHz stream to an oversampling (192 kHz) DAC, it isn't oversampled again or am I lost here?

^ yep it would be, thats why the DAC I want is non-oversampling

All the oversampling is done on the computer.

Pretty much everything these days is over/up/sampling. It gives better measurements.
