Hi, I just got my very first pair of full-sizes, krk kns8400s

What is an ideal source to leave playing for burn-in? does loudness matter? is high or low frequency sound is preferred?

and also, can playing too loud cause damage to the headphones?

I wasnt actually playing THAT loud, but it was a track that has somewhat punchy bass (eminem-hello)

and i heard a small pop on the left side, which i knew wasnt a part of the main track.

Call me paranoid but like i said it is my first pair lol

The most commonly-accepted method if you want to go for thorough burn-in is a pink noise sequence at slightly above your usual listening level. Simplynoise.com is great for that, where all you have to do it pick the pink noise option and play away.

As for volume, your ears will be damaged before your headphones are. You'd have to listen at insane levels to permanently damage most headphone drivers.

We have all different methods,lol.

Mine is listen to all genres of music continously during 50 to 200 hours depending on headphones.  Every 24 hours i increase the volume but never too loud.
