Hi,
I've started using Eagle lite for a Gilmore1 (based on sijosae's layout) single sided pcb. I'd like to put 805 bypass chip caps to the servo on the copper side of the board, but Eagle insists on putting it on the top (red) layer.

How do I tell Eagle to put it on the copper layer?

Thanks

Just use the "change" tool. Change it to the layer you want.

ChangeTool->Layer->Bottom->click part.

I tried it multiple times but it still puts in red traces.

use the 'Mirror' function, change only works for traces IIRC. If you're etching a single layer yourself, it doesn't matter which side it's on as it'll all print as one.

Just to magnify on what Guzzler said, you might lay it out all on layer 1, just because that way you don't have to mirror all the SMT parts. When you print it, you can flip the transparency around or tell EAGLE to print it properly rotated and mirrored to transfer that to the bottom layer.
