I was wondering if there were any non-foam pads for grados. I have the RS-1, and by all means enjoy the a lot, but the pads don't quite agree with me. Are there other pads that work well for Grado RS-1 and family? Leather ones, for instance? I could probably have them made, but impression from people who have tried would be good.

The bowl pads are horribly uncomfortable and they lack bass response due to lack of filter ( foam ) in the way of the driver. There are some yellow foam pads that actually positively shape the sound, but I have not seen any pads that aren't foam. I also includes a link to some custom pads.

I am now sitting here with my tweed pads, and they are very comfortable! And they have indeed taken some "edge" off the sound, so now I can listen to my counter tenors again. Thank you just so much for that piece of advice. :o2smile:

If you are ever looking for an upgrade to the Grado line of headphones be sure to check out the Philips Fidelio X2HR/27. Affordable, excellent build quality, comfortable for hours, an well-measured frequency response. I listen to mostly classical, soundtracks, and some electronic and the X2HR is simply an amazing headphone.

I didn't find the FR chart for that precise one. Is the L1 similar?
