Treble on the 3 isn't overly hot in my opinion. It is definitely a bit V shaped, but I didn't find it fatiguing. Tip rolling can really help the treble on the 3's as well. Black and red stock tips and Comply's do a solid job of bringing down the treble a bit. I haven't heard the Tridents yet, but good to hear your comparison if you get a chance.
