My GF just bought a new silver 4gb nano.

There were no foamies in the pack, as far as we can tell. Is this normal now ? Or are we missing something.

IIRC they became the norm when the second-gen nano came out in 2006. The foamies were replaced with a soft gray plastic/rubber around the edge.

Doesn't matter to me though; I chuck 'em either way.

Apple changed its ear bud design in 2006 ... so nothing was missing from the packaging.

I had the same reaction when I opened my new nano. Completely normal not to have it with the new buds. They're not great, but I was surprised that they weren't terrible... pretty okay for earbuds.
