That's a good question, I'd assume the hiss is with the original DS fat because I have the lite and there's absolutely none with my ultimate ears IEMs.

I sold mine (DS Lite) today on ebay and I am glad it's gone.
After playing the Castlevania GBA titles and the Castlevania DS game there is nothing much left for me.
After too many years with video games since the Atari 2600 I am simply getting tired.
I will reload my iPod with some good music, get myself a good red wine and have a new book at hand.

Borrowed Castlevania for GBA to have something to play, damn the screens are nice ;/, I think the sound is very nice for such small speakers aswell.

I find I can hear noise whenever sound plays on the DSL. I really mean only when sound plays. When there is nothing playing, it is silent, when sound plays, noise. This seems more noticeable when playing GBA games. I have listened to two DS Lites and 1 original DS, same issue on all. One difference, though, is I believe the original DS has louder output and a bit more bass.

you are talking using headphones now?

Yes, I hear noise with and without headphones.

Edit: I have not listened to the original DS on headphones and an amp, just my DS Lite, so I don't know if the louder output and bass is caused by a difference in speakers or in something else inside. The noise, however, is definately audible on the speakers.

I can't say that my M3 lite works well, but anyway:

Oh, sorry for that, the troubles was because of a 5h1++y memory card reader which I had got with some magazines, bought a new one and everything works as it should.

Other flashcarts to consider are supercard lite, ninjads and ds-xtreme.

I actually did a side by side comparison back in april when I got my lite from japan (I was impatient back then, young and foolish). I found the lite had a clearer output. The soundfloor was significantly lower, but I wouldn't say the sound was really that much "better". I found it very similar, but I preferred the lite do to the clearer sound.
