Hey all,

I'm very new to this whole audio gear scene and I am looking for some VERY cheap closed earphones that are preferably circum-aural (more comfortable to me, compared to supra-aural)..
I do some VERY amateur music recording on garageband and am looking for something to monitor with as my speakers annoy my family..lol
I am seriosuly considering these:
Shure: SRH240 | Headphonic: Australian Headphone Specialists: Buy Etymotic, Alessandro, Audio Technica, Ultimate Ears, Talisman, Meier Audio and more

As you can see, my budget is small...like less than $100...as I'm not really fussy... But in saying that, I've been using a pair of Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 5 Pros and I wouldn't want to get anything that sounds worse than what I already have... I know full sized phones are better sounding than IEMs by design, but is it unrealistic for me to expect a better sound, with the budget that I have, than my decent IEMs? More specifically, would the Shure SRH240 (above..) be 'better' sounding for what I do? monitoring?

Thanks all!

I agree with jawang; Audio-Technica M50 is what you're looking for.

dbi Pro 700. You can grab a pair off eBay for $30 plus shipping. Awesome value. Closed, circumaural, comfortable, almost indestructible, has great clean sound and punchy bass.

SRH240's are good for the price. SRH 440's ($100) and Beyer DT235's ($65) are low.

D1001 can be found $100 at headphone.com, one of our sponsors. Sony V6 (~70) or the M50 (~140) if you can bring out a bit extra.

The prices vary from ebay/amazon to MSRP.
