Won't those suffer the same stability issues re: not actually working? Ideally, if I could get a (different example of?) a Xonar DG working, I would use that...
There is either (a) something wrong with the particular Xonar DG you have or (b) something wrong with your computer. Many people have used Xonar soundcards--all of them--with Windows 7 no problem.
I personally would troubleshoot until I verified whether or not it is a (a) or (b) before going further. And if it's (b), then you should do more research to figure out why it's having a problem.
