I did some more reading elsewhere on the DT770 consumer 2005 version and it seems they have a brighter sound, are more open and airy. basically they sound completely different and most people quoted they sound better since they don't have the boomy bass which I liked. maybe I'm being confused by a DT770 consumer ed which looks exactly the way you described or a newer version of the pro?

There is also this version, which is still the DT770/80 Pro. Notice the writing on the earcup is different. Don't know if there are any sonic differences between it and the first one, though.

ok alydon, I'll stop razzing you, just wanted to make sure you actually had a foot in reality in those suggestions (most users don't, they have one thing and suggest another just because theres a thread about it)

and for the record, I 100% agree with your suggestions

as far as the DT770 differences, I've heard quite a few varied opinions, some sides say there isn't difference, others say its huge (just like some argue the HD 600 is worlds apart from the HD 580, even though, oh yeah, same can)

honestly, if you like the 770, go for it (this is directed to the OP)
