well I need to go to headphone listening for the next year (new born needs silence) so I am reaching out for opinions for headphones/amp based on the following. Budget range 600-800. I don't mind used equipment and I don't mind things that I can upgrade after awhile.
my current gear:
rotel 971
cary 303/200
bat v3i
mccormack dna-1
vandersteen 2ce sig
vandersteen 2wq subs
music: dead, young, dylan, csn, beatles, pink floyd, beach boys etc
not hard/metal rock, not classical music/chamber, not hip/hop
thanks

A used Grado RS-1 and a used HeadRoom Micro Amp would be great for rock n' roll. You can scale up the amp from there. . . . If you need isolation, though, you may want to grab an AudioTechnica A900 (or A900LTD) and you'd still have about $400-$600 to spend on an amp (assuming you mean USD). I don't know enough about amps in this range to recommend one, however. Maybe a GS-1 with DACT? Wouldn't really know.
