I am a newbie in the world of speakers/headphones and dacs and am looking for something entry level that i can listen to on my mac air.

My budget is under £300 so I guess that limits me but what I would like preferably is to be able to purchase speakers + headphones and DAC to use alternately.

So far what I have found is is the audioquest dragonfly with AKG K550 for £299.95. If i was to purchase this, then i would look to buy a speaker system at a later date.

Another product i have found is called the monitor audio airstream ws100 which is a wireless speaker using usb. In it's official website it mentions "dedicated dacs" as its feature. Therefore, does this have an inbuilt dac and if so how do you compare it against the audioquest dragonfly DAC?

Personally, I think it is safe to go with dragonfly+550. I doubt that built in DAC of a monitor will be better than an $300 external dac.
