I had no luck with foam & silicon tips so I tried some deep insertion IEM'S. While they blocked out the outside world a lot (good - exactly what I was looking for) my footsteps sounded like thunder (bad).

Is that normal? Do you folks with custom moulds get a lot of body noise like footsteps trainsmitted to your ears when you are walking? (I know this phenomenon is called "occlusion")

I gave a long walk in the city a shot but the footsteps pounding noise was so loud it totally messed up my enjoyment of the music.

Tell me about custom fit / walking noise?

Many thanks.

This phenomenon is known as bone conduction. It’s unavoidable with IEMs, even more so with CIEMs since more of the shell is making direct contact with your inner ear.
