Hi,
as said in the title, i'm a noob.
I'm currently searching a portable amp to use with my sony NWA-3000 and Etymotics ER6i.

I plan to spend 200-250 $ (dollar is cheap this days

)

Can't choose between headroom Bithead, Meier Audio Porta Corda, Portaphile V2.2 and Xenos 3HA, so I'm begging for advices.

Specs i'd like: decent battery life, not too big, neutral sound, ability to drive high impedance haedphones (I'm planning to buy HD 595 soon)

Specs I don't need: DAC

Hope, you can help.

Fred

P.S. Sorry for my rusted english, I don't practice often, and it's a long time since I left school

I'm personally a fan of xin's amps and supermicro at $179 is regarded as one of THE best portable amps, beating portable amps priced much higher
Prepare for a long wait though (1-2 months.. maybe)

Yes, at that price I would go with the Supermicro IV. Good luck.

Or you could get Gary's PA2V2 For $60 including rechargeable battery, charger, lifetime warranty and have it in a week. This amp works well with Etys. I have both and know it's true. It's too easy to needlessly over spend here so keep a sharp eye on your wallet.

You find Gary here: http://www.electric-avenues.com/

Wanna be happy both sound-wise and wallet-wise?

In this case, you should ask Alberto of Xenos to make a customised 0HA-REP with AD8620 and LMH6654's for you. Besides sounding extremely good (and neutral), it even has a very low noise floor (for the Etymotics).

Forgot to say - it'd cost you $136.

Forgive me for intruding, but I figured I'd mention that most 595's nowadays are 50 ohm instead of the original 120.
