Cliff's are at the bottom
I've been lurking these forums for a while trying to answer my own questions but I'm getting overwhelmed with the choices and I'm hoping some of you can help me out.
I currently own some IEM Auvios that I bought at Radio Shack. They work OK but I think I've grown to dislike the whole IEM thing. I think they sound great and bassy, but I want some headphones. I think the whole ear canal thing and getting wax and smelling a little funky is not my cup of tea. I feel like I need a constant supply of Q tips... and then when someone asks what I'm jamming to, it makes me wonder how clean their ears are before I hand over the bud (insert stoner joke here).
My budget is 50-100 US bones. Not set in stone and price really isn't an object but I'm fairly sure I can't tell the difference between headphones then why spend the extra money? I can be using it to pay for some ladies of the night action... but thats another thread.
I listen to mostly rap/hip hop and some rock. I love the deep bass, and I would think thats my most important requirement. Some artists: Ludacris, bassercist, 2 live crew, and sesame street... you know serious business.
I work in a very quiet office so I don't need any isolation, but how loud are open air headphones? I mean, I'm in my office, would people in the hall hear me rocking to some gangster rap about murdering fools as they ride in their escalades sitting on dub dueces flashing big money bens? So, how bad are open air headphones?
Comfort is also of some importance. I do plan on wearing the cans for a few hours at a time. I have a large head (thats what she said!) as I usually wear XXL motorcycle helmets and baseball hats.
If I have to buy an amp then that will be fine... but I have no idea whats a good amp or how much they run. I will be using my phone (HTC EVO) mostly as a source playing pandora and MP3's but I do have a laptop too.
So to sum it all up:
$50-100
Deep bass
Pretty comfy (and light if possible)
Listen: Rap and Rock mostly
Thanks!!!
