Hi,
 
I just bought a Doge 6210 tube amp from Hong Kong. The amp has two 12AX7 (preamp) and two EL84. I wanna change them to get better sound but I'm kinda new to this world
My question is do I have to find the tubes with the same type numbers (12AX7 and EL84) or any tubes in the same category, e.g Preamp category?

there are some websites on the web that has the specs for different tubes.
they sometimes also include the drop in replacement. you should have a look at them.
 
it doesnt work that way. most of them has different specs and pin layouts so it is important to find "exact" replacement.
