Geez, i owned an MZ-R50 and a MZ-R700PC. A few months back my brother's friend wanted to buy one from me. Thinking newer is better, i sold him the MZ-R50. Fast forward to a few days ago when I started reading about the benefits of a good line-out, and now I'm sad...

is the R-50 the square one? or is that the R55? my friend has one of these.. R-5x. not sure which one it is though. beautiful units.

the MZ-R50 is more of a rectangle. If I'm not mixtaken, the R55 is square.

All of Sony's recorders post-R50 are square, more like a cookie cutter. Actually, all of the MD's today are of that design, more or less. I see the Sony business recorders are more of the rectangular shape, as they have built-in speakers.

You may wish you still had the R50 after you do some serious reading, here, and over at the MiniDisc T-Board. How on earth can a car wash kill an MD unit?
