which is the new and which is the old? Which is better more importantly?

The 1st one if the latest consumer edition and 2nd is just the Pro which is like the studio version.

The 1st link is the better sounding headphone.

They are both the current production models. Beyer manufactures both a Pro line and what Beyer is calling the Premiumline (non Pro designation).

From what I've read, the "better" one is the non-Pro DT990 Premium. The DT990 Premium was updated a few years ago (2005?).

I own the 2005 edition and i'm very happy, but obviously, all depends on the kind of the music you listen to get or no the 990s.

I'd be surprised if they still have any old 990 pro stock - it is probably the newer model.

get a pair of old "all plastic" 990, they are usually 600 Ohm's and have a smoother sound (plus better bass)
