This is what I have:

The weird thing is it says it has 23 jewels on the front dial but the weight on the rear of the watch says 21 jewels. Either way, it's no good, for me at least.

Ah, I don't know much about Seiko 5 series watches other than that they're usually the "budget" watches. The movement on that (7S36B) is pretty reliable though. My Monster uses the same one and it's about 12 years old, going from the serial number.

I did alot of research too lately for watches. I actually bought a nice Tissot:

It's a great chronograph watch with a great reputation. It's a little bit thick in size, which I really like.

Good luck!

for around your price range... i would recommend Bulova...great company with great watches!  Good for everyday but definately classy enough to wear with suits.

I highly recommend Alpha watches. They are not fake Rolex but Rolex and Omega inspired type watches. The watches are around $110-$180 plus shipping and it’s a killer bargain,

I recently got one of their watches and was shocked! Super nice and well built. Definitely good quality. Of course not as refined as a Rolex but you’re not paying over $5000 as you would with a Rolex. They also have a reputable dealer on eBay if you decide to get one and there’s lots of reviews on YouTube.

Personally I find it easier buying their watches from eBay.

Seiko all the way, hard to beat considering your budget. The SKX's can easily be cuztomised to your taste with all the after market parts available.

As many people in this thread have correctly pointed out Swiss watches are the best and if you're on a budget then Tissot is the brand to go for.

You can get a very beautiful well made Swiss quality watch at a surprisingly affordable price.

I purchased a Tissot Couturier myself and was pretty much shocked at the quality when I received it, they're incredibly well made.

I'm actually selling that one and have hardly worn it since I've now upgraded to a Tag Heuer. If you're interested I could potentially sell it to you?

It's boxed with all the papers and links and in mint condition. I've added some pictures of it for you to have a look at.
