Hello all, newbie here,
 
I had been using a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M50's for two years, and they recently decided to break on me. Thinking I'd give open headphones a try, I purchased a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-AD500x's. While I was certainly expecting a significantly reduced amount of isolation, they appear to be 'amplifying' every sound. My keyboard and computer have become louder than when I have no headphones on at all. Is this simply a contrast due to coming from pair of closed headphones? Will I eventually 'adapt' to this? Any information/suggestions would be appreciated.

Hmm. That's kind of interesting. It could be like the cable passing on the sound to your headphones... but unlikely. Have you tried moving your cable away from the desk that your keyboard is on?

It's not touching the desk, but it is rather close to the computer case itself. I'll try moving the two away from each other to see if that makes any difference.
