Currently I own a pair of Sony MDR-V150 and I am looking for something better. My wallet can only reach $100, so anything in that price range would be considered. I listen to all types of music. I am going to be using them strictly on the pc for listening to music, duh

. Any help would be appriciated.

I'm new as well but after reading around I decided to pick up a pair of Grado SR60's to replace my broken sennheisers and I'm quite impressed. I listen to metal mostly and they sound great! Running them on my PC through a Creative x-fi card.

For $100, I think the Alessandro MS-1's (built by Grado) would be perfect. Easy to run straight out of a sound card, sound great.

Hmm.. Sony's MDR infection. I was in same situation like you. If you want open can ask someone else. If closed then go for ATH-A500. I got mine and it's amazing.

Alessandro MS-1 without hesitation, unless you need isolation. If not, get these!!

I will 4th the MS1 suggestion. I miss mine but my SR225s keep me company. The Alessandros are a really nice can for that amount of cash.

I hate to start another a500 thread, but I am learning. I am new to HeadFi. I love my k26p, but I want more. The highs nowhere near get my HK 2.1 system for my computer. Will I be happier with the a500 or the MS-1 (no amp)?

In the under-$100 category, you might honestly want to consider a pair of Koss KSC-75 (then run away from this forum, quick).

yup; he might as well do that if he needs to do them portably.

i do think the sr60's are a significant step up though, and i had the ms-1's and they are also quite nice.
