I just traded for an Ibasso pb1. It has a hirose to 4pin xlr adapter. My source is Cowon J3.
So for my phones (ultrasones pro 900 current) i am going to get them duel entry modded and a balanced cable with 4pin termination. (also getting he-400 soon) Now if i decided to use these with a different source, how much sound quality will be lost going from 4pin to adapter to 3.5 mm jack. I understand it wont be balanced signal anymore, but will the adapter make it sound worse than original cable with 3.5mm termination. (assuming cables are equal to start). I am considering

Also, is there sound loss with the ibasso adapter and would i be better off getting cables terminated to the hirose/6pin ibasso.
