Hi everyone as the title says I'm pretty new to headphone amp's. I have never used/owned an amp before but am looking to get into it. I currently have a pair of Alessandro MS-1 headphones however I will be getting a closed pair pretty soon possibly the Beyer DT770 or AKG 271 and want to pick up an amp before hand.

I know there are tube amps and than amps that are solid state but other than that I really don't know much. I'm sort of just looking for suggestions as to what is the best all around amp I can get in the $140ish price range. I do like the look of tube amps however I don't know how those would fit in my budget.

the little dot series are great for beginners; you can find the mk2 and mk3 for around 150-200 on the FS forums here.

The only problem is that it made me buy a pair of Grado 225s because I liked the sound so much.

I have been looking at the Little Dot as well, probably the Little Dot II, if I can find a decent price on it I might pull the trigger.
