Hi Guys

My little Xonar DX died on me a couple of days ago :frowning2:

I've tried going with the on board sound, and while I wasn’t sure I'd notice much difference, I can and I dont like it very much.

I'm looking at getting a replacement, and was wondering if anyone could offer some advice.

They will be used exclusively with a pair of Creative Aurvana Live! 2 headphones. These are 32Ohm and I think they cost me around £75. So I'm guessing it would be silly to go with a super high end sound card that exceeds the value of the headphones themselves.

I'm currently eying up a SoundBlaster Z for £49 (OEM version without the EMI shield as the retail one is about another £20).

I would love to hear some other suggestions from someone more knowledgeable than me though.

Thanks a lot

Gambler.

PS, USB DAC is probably a no, as I do quite a lot of FPS gaming, so I don’t think it would work as well for that purpose.

PPS, tried to put this in the computer audio forum, but don’t appear to have the privileges to do so?

Sound Blaster Z.
Unless you want something cheaper like the Asus Xonar DG or DGX.
But guessing the SB-Z is a better choice for gaming.

Ordered a sound blaster Z for £43 in the end.

Hopfully I'll like it :D

Hopefully you have disabled the motherboard's on-board audio? in the BIOS.
