Hi, I am trying to use a remote control for my NW-ZX507 , so I can leave it inside the bag, I have tried the Sony RMT-NWS20 and iRiver IAA01 remote control but both does not work.

Does anyone have any tips or ideas?

No BT remote works, as far as we know. Walkman blog says there is no BT receiver in the ZX507/5

So I've been using SE for a day as I read that once volume matched you cannot hear a difference. Today I switch to balanced and can hear the difference straight away, the sound is more vibrant and fuller. I'm liking DSEE HX once more.

Indeed. The balanced output as implemented by Sony is stellar. Hence, I am not sure who you have heard that it is the same at loud volumes. But it is good that you have heard the truth for yourself.

I went from SR15 to SE100 to SP1000M to ZX507, sold the AK's and kept the ZX507. I don't have time to write another comparison right now unfortunately, but in short I find the ZX507 does everything better than the SR15.

Well no remote will work, but while I'm out & about I listen via BT LDAC with my BTR5 which has controls on it. Your not hearing the Sony sound but the BTR5 sound which via its balanced is still fantastic.

I listened to ak se100 and sp1000m between Sony wm1A and my zx507.
i dislike ak sound. sony is far superior.

u set impossible task. fun and V shaped, and same time IEMs (in ear monitors). monitors have flat sound signature.
I recommend headphones. sony mdr 1Am2 . V shaped sound for $200-300. balanced cable will deliver u enough power from zx507.
they are lite comfortable and pretty compact in size.
(I use them, I also tried ier - m7, boring monitors compared to 1Am2)

Strangely, mine won't update - System updates shows me that version 2.02 is available, but when I select "Start update" it just hangs on 0%, however long I leave it.
Any ideas? Thanks!

congrats! I m glad to help u. mdr 1Am2 are really awesome. particularly for this price. I listen everything this from classic opera music to modern edm, from rock to hip-hop, disco, dance, pop, metal. they suit well. I remember I ve enjoyed wm1A + mdr 1Am2 sound more than $2500 + headphones with AK dac and daps + macbook. (except the sub bass of hd820, that was HUGE!)
and zx507 has a powerful EQ, plenty of room for sound adjustments. none ak daps could deliver that.
even wm1A (probably on outdated FW and capped volume, low gain).
by the way, If u will have a chance, try audeze lcd mx4 with zx507. even on 3.5 they sound very cool. transparency! dsd files... maybe 4.4 cable will drive them even better. we dont have lcd 4.4mm cables available in Ukraine. same as no more hi end sony's headphones like mdr z1r, z7m2, ets. (there were pairs on sale a year ago)

When I updated recently the player wouldn't let me unless it was plugged in the charger and with a near full capacity battery.

did u plug it into charger? and have 60%+ battery?
mine updated very fast but demanded to be plugged in charger.

Someone mentioned previously having issue if battery at 100% (a bug?). Try with battery at say 80% and plugged in.

That was me I think...yeah it's gotta be between 60% to 99%. Maybe the new firmware will fix it

Balanced mode utilizes Sony's own custom designed FTCAP2 instead the Panasonic Polymer Capacitors in Single ended mode.

Sony mentions that FTCAP2 delivers expansive vocals and instrumentation plus
powerful bass notes.

So it's not just a matter of more power output and better grounding, there is also better material used.
