Man! You guys are going hardcore.

Now I know walkmanuser assumed ZX507's old DSEE HX also includes bit depth extension, but if these Japanese articles are correct, only from today with DSEE Ultimate have we finally got that 'bit depth extension'. Am I correct?
Wonder if there is any difference.
Downside is that only the Walkman app gets DSEE Ultimate 32 bit AI.

Yes correct.
DSEE HX only applies upsampling techniques on frequency but not bit depth, now Ultimate extends the upsampling to both frequency as well as bit depth.

The dsee hx ultimate is for all apps and system wide right?

It's a shame DSEE Ultimate is only for locally stored/walkman app music. Hopefully it becomes system wide in future updates...?

Boo boo! It would be #1 for my Spotify! 😊😇🙃

Hmmmm, update now over-the-air, or wait for impressions?

Screw it, gonna update. It appears we can no longer download the UPG directly. Wonder if this will put me back to Japan firmware (I had manually updated to International last update).

Only Xperia 1 II can.

oooooookayy. NVM, won't let me update; says I need to charge the battery (it's currently at 44%). Weird how it won;t let me update even when plugged in.

Quite normal - most smart devices today won't let you update unless you are at least 50% charged AND plugged in, because if you run out of juice during update it could brick the device as important system files are swapped/overwritten.

Using OTA update, I am back to Japanese firmware now. Previously I have forced flash to CN Firmware.
I was hoping to do as you (use CN firmware to just avoid all the play store stuff), but, looks lie we can no longer manually download UPG.

Also, I charged to over 50% and still wouldn't allow me to update, so I just finished doing a system wipe & reset to see if it'll let me update OTA; battery is at 56% and still won't let me update.

Weird...I tried by typing in the correct new version # in a URL I had saved from a previous download...didn't work. Downloading the International UPG now. Maybe I'll try China next time. Thanks, because the OTA is refusing to let me update due to low battery (it is at 58%).

Man, it wasn't this hard the first two times I updated... I copied that UPG to the root of internal storage and tried updating. It still won;t let me update due to low battery. I never had this issue before, and I know I updated once with battery below 60%
