what is the point of this player when compared to the A82x series? is it a BIG capacity harddrive player or something?

So what are we getting here? A slightly uglier, weightier 820 with a smaller screen, an FM radio and a faster USB facility? Decidely disappointed. Suppose its only meant to be bolster move by sony as opposed to a new gen flagship but still.

The problem sony has is that when they design a product they beat the mold to death. Any other company, regardless of SQ, would change the look (and capacity) to go w/the times. NOT SONY!!! They're gonna' beat this 1 ta' DEATH!!! And still no FRIGGIN' 32gb MODEL!!! MoFo's!!!!

Just an open question to anyone, the links posted by G-man stipulate the S-series to be sony's flagship series. Is this true? I know the A-series hasn't been updated here (was earlier this year with 720/820 series) but where does the A-series slot into their hierachy?

B130 is out and available to purchase in Australia already, while we didn't have the S710:so chances of the S730 coming to my country is slim.

I wonder how well the S Series will work as a headphone amplifier/processor/graphic EQ from an external input, if at all. If it can do that without using the EX noise canceling headphones, it will make a nice headamp with EQ for IEMs.

The top-end S-series Walkman players feature integrated active noise cancellation with supplied 13.5mm EX noise canceling headphones and an accessory cable that extends the noise canceling functionality of the device. On airplanes, travellers can – for the first time – connect the S-series player directly to a plane’s audio video system with the included accessory cable and enjoy regular in-flight entertainment with the bonus of high-quality noise cancellation.
