I'm going to Japan a few days before Christmas so no need for Audiocubes.

I'm sure the stores will have plenty of floor demo models so no need for me to buy them either.

anyways, do I really need more headphones?

Hey it was worth a try

You're getting the 010's anyway, right? I might jump on the SA5000 depending on how the sound reports roll in (yours will probably be among the first).

On the linked Chinese page, they say all 3 are open; but according to some Japanese sites, SA5000 is closed while the other two are open. I guess the latter is more accurate.

That article says they are going for 77,700, which is about 750$. Anyone know if this is true or not?

I don't think i'd bother at that price.

the high-end model in the new audio-technica line also has a similiar price at audiocubes. I'm dissapointed that all these new phones are open.

Also, don't forget.. the original MSRP for CD3000 was $699... so the MSRP of the Sony will be quite higher than the eventual street price at which these headphones will fall to. Might take a year though.

I'm so happy they're open. listening to qualia you would easily understand how an open design can sound beautiful

What kills me is that the way more expensive Qualia 010's are less adjustable then these.

Although, the adjustability of the SA series looks like some kind of medical cranium measuring device.

Hmmmm, the MDR-SA's double as a trepanning vice?
