Yeah I suppose there's no point keeping if it doesn't meet your requirements. Just hope @Shanling quickly resolve these teething issues and improve the soundstage.

I may have found the disparity on the soundstage. Listening to a DSD file over the USB input versus the same DSD file locally in the EM5 presents a totally different sound experience. The likes of bass, mid, treble, clarity, imaging and soundstage are completely different. The same applies to streaming Tidal over USB input vs the internal Tidal app on the EM5.

This will definitely defeat the purpose of EM5 as a streamer.

Adding a bit more info for @Shanling. On the PC I tested DSD files playback using 2 players; Windows Media Player and Sony Music Center for PC connected to the EM5 under USB DAC input mode. For Tidal, I was using the Tidal App for Windows.

Based on my listening tests, using different players do affect the sound quality. Perhaps @Shanling can look into the player included with the EM5 since I cannot install any other players on the EM5 to do a comparison.

Tidal also sounded differently when played on the PC connected to the EM5. It gives a fuller sound quality compared to playing Tidal installed in the EM5.

Hi, after 2 weeks of waiting i finally received the EM5. The sound is good (No background noise on sensitive iem and more bass than my previous dac/amp but less soundstage (need burn in maybe) ) through USB but i have some issues with streaming services.
I am connected with an ethernet cable and installed the latest update througt OTA (firmware 1.2)
Tidal: can't connect because it doesn't let me input my password (the continue button doesn't do anything)



Deezer: i m able to connect but the application says it needs an update everytime i launch it.
Doesn't do anything even if i click on "update".
The home page of the application keep telling me "Unable to load page".




Another quick remark, in usb mode, i need to turn on the screen to change the volume ... why?

Edit on sound impression throught usb: The soundstage is definitely smaller than with my MF M1HPA. The voices are closer to my ears.
Piano and guitar have more weight than with my MF M1HPA
The EM5 sounds great on the Grado PS1000e as it add heavier bass and smoother mids but the soundstage is a bit restrained/small

Will look into these issues. Might have been some app update over holidays.

Not possible to side-load apps on EM5.
